Advisory Board

The C.S. Mott Center Advisory Committees function under the Mott Center Bylaws and are comprised of both internal and external senior individuals who are experts in their fields serving as Mott Center stakeholders. The Internal Advisory Committee includes representatives from the Wayne State University School of Medicine. The Steering Committee includes members from Wayne State University outside of the School of Medicine, and representatives of the community, industry and other major universities. The committees support the Mott Center in strategic planning, and have been instrumental in the creation of the center’s reproduction sciences graduate concentration, major capital equipment acquisitions, oversight and relations with other units within the school of medicine, the university and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute.

Paul J. Corsi, MD, FACOG

Paul J Corsi MD is a graduate from Wayne State University School of medicine completing his residency at Hutzel Hospital Detroit Medical Center in Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a Board Certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist with hospital affiliation at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. In addition, he is the Director of Gynecological Minimally Invasive Surgery/Robotic Surgery at St Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. Also, Paul serves as the president of Associated Obstetrics & Gynecology with two office locations in Clarkston. MI and Bloomfield Hills, MI.

Patrice Harold, MD

Dr Harold was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. She is the wife of Mr. Tom Barrow and mother of three wonderful children, Lori, Taylor, and Thomas.

Dr Harold received her bachelors of Arts degree in Chemistry from Wayne State University. She obtained her medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1989. She did her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Hutzel Women’s hospital in Detroit Medical Center. After completing her residency she was employed by the Detroit Medical Center to practice and oversee The Institute for Women’s Medicine is Southfield, MI In march of 2000 she started her private practice in Southfield were she specializes in Women’s Health Care.

Dr Harold’s professional affiliations include The National Medical Society, the Detroit Medical Society, Michigan State Medical Society she is also a fellow in the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Dr Harold is also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Motor City Chapter of Jack and Jill and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Detroit MI.

With his dental degree from Georgetown University, Dr. John Levy went on to receive his post doctorate in bio-engineering at Yale University. He brings 40 years of knowledge and experience to the table as he treats patients with excellent dental care on a more compassionate level than most doctors. As a dedicated member of society, Dr. Levy is proud to be involved in various charities such as the anti-defamation league. His cancer research involvement in the Yale School of Medicine Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Services department is marked by a true passion for helping others

Brenda L. Moskovitz, MD

Dr. Moskovitz has been serving our community locally, nationally, and internationally in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility for the past 25 years.

Dr. Moskovitz graduated from the University Of Michigan with honors with a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology. After one year of working on a Ph.D. in Biophysics at the University of Michigan, she decided to pursue a degree in medicine. Four years later she graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine.

She then completed a four-year residency program in Obstetrics and Gynecology at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. It was at this point she knew she wanted to concentrate on Reproductive Medicine. She then completed a two-year fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at Michael Reese Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

Since then she has been in private practice, helping countless couples achieve their goals of helping them conceive. Dr. Moskovitz is in solo practice and gives every patient personal and individualized attention.

Andrew S Markowitz, MD

Life Fellow, American College Obstetrics and Gynecology

Dr. Markowitz graduated from Michigan State University in 1981 with a degree in Zoology, he then decided to go to medical school at Wayne State University and graduated in 1985. He finished his OB/Gyn residency in 1989 at Sinai Hospital in Detroit. In 2018 he retired from private clinical practice of OB/GYN. He is a Life Fellow of American College of Obstetricians and Gynecology and he expanded participation with Wayne Med School since retiring by joining Admissions Interview Committee, and facilitating Medical Student Year 1 learning and clinical experiences and now he is a part of the CS Mott Center’s Advisory Committee.

Mrs. Ramoo is a retired Human Resources Executive with extensive experience in various roles in HR and working in many multi-national organizations like the Singapore Totalisator Board, Singapore, Altair Engineering, USA, Deloitte, USA and most recently at Volkswagen Group of America. Usha attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana USA where she received her Bachelor of Science specializing in Personnel Management as well as her Masters in Public Administration.

Mrs. Ramoo also has an extensive global experience having been posted in various HR executive positions in India as well as in Germany. In her tenure she has worked a lot on developing strategies and programs in the areas of talent development and management, with a focus on retention and engagement of company’s top talent. She has also successfully implemented many programs focusing on developing young talent in the company and developing a strategy for career development and progression. She has also focused a lot on increasing awareness on Diversity in the workplace and has implemented new policies that are targeted on increasing more diverse candidates in the workplace and in promoting the well being of employees especially with respect to work-life balance.

Dr. Sokol is Emeritus Distinguished Professor in the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynecology and Physiology, Emeritus Dean of the Wayne State University School of Medicine and Adjunct Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. At Wayne State, he served as Chair of the Departments of ObGyn and of Translational Medicine and as Director of the C.S. Mott Center for Human Growth and Development, as well as Senior Vice President for Medical Affairs for the Detroit Medical Center. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, Maternal-Fetal Medicine and Addiction Medicine. He has built a “triple threat” career along with major administrative responsibilities.

Among his accomplishments and honors, he was elected President of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine (SMFM), the Central Association of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Detroit Medical Academy and the Wayne State University Academy of Scholars. He also chaired the national Liaison Committee for Obstetrics and Gynecology and was Editor-in-Chief of ACOG UPDATE, a monthly CME publication of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Dr. Sokol been associated with nearly a half a billion dollars in grant and contract awards, primarily from NIH and has published extensively on computers in ObGyn, high risk ante-and intrapartum management and the prevention of perinatal brain damage, particularly as it relates to prenatal exposure to alcohol and cocaine; he has authored about 1600 publications, including 400 refereed papers. Honors include several years’ recognition amongst “Best Docs,” 15 national research awards, a Lifetime Achievement Award from SMFM, recognition as the founding Chair of the SMFM Foundation, a Distinguished Service Award from ACOG and awards from the Wayne State University School of Medicine student body, alumni and the school.

Dr. Sokol has served on three medical school/university boards, one of which he chaired and on four boards of directors of professional theaters, two of which he has chaired. He serves on many other boards and committees, including serving as Vice Chair of the governing board of the Detroit Medical Center GME program, with about 1000 residents and fellows in training, as well as having served as Chair of the Board of the Southeast Michigan Center for Medical Education Board of Directors. Currently, he chairs the State of Michigan Medical Maternal Mortality Committee on which he has served for 37 years and is Co-Leader of the MI AIM program aimed at reducing maternal mortality and severe morbidity throughout Michigan. Dr. Sokol has overseen and consulted on strategic planning in the not-for-profit and for-profit spaces internationally, nationally, regionally and locally. A few personal notes – he worked as a professional theater photographer for six years during residency and fellowship training, has been married and in love for 56 years, has three physician children and six grandchildren, and has abiding interests in theater, opera and fine art.
